ANNOUNCEMENT: Elmer the Patchwork Elephant 30th anniversary UK Tour

25 October 2018

David McKee's iconic children's book Elmer the Patchwork Elephant is to be staged in a brand new adaptation for a UK tour in 2019. The show will be staged by Selladoor, opening in Bromley in January 2019, before touring to Billingham, Radlett, Alban, Richmond, Brighton and more until 2 June.

Elmer the Patchwork Elephant Show has been adapted for the stage by Suzanne Maynard Miller and has songs by Allison Leyton-brown. The show will be directed by Scott le Crass with puppet direction from Yvonne Stone and design from Richard Evans.

Selladoor Family, the producers behind the show, have also created works for children including James and the Giant Peach, Seussical, The Owl and the Pussycat and Madagascar the Musical. This version of Elmer the Patchwork Elephant was originally workshopped in Canada in 2017. The story follows a very special elephant called Elmer, who is brightly coloured while his friends are all grey. The book was originally published in 1998 and was turned into a TV series featuring the voices of Jane Horrocks and David Holt.

Alex Parker, lead producer for Selladoor said: "We are thrilled to be bringing this much-loved character to life alongside the important stories that Elmer represents. Expect puppetry, colour and a trunk-load of fun!"
