Co-Musical Supervisor


Carlton has been part of the Mamma Mia! family since 2000. His work on the show includes AMD on the original London production, MD and supervisor for the international tour, and supervisor for productions in China and South Africa. Presently, he is music supervisor of the UK tour.

Outside of this, other MD creditsinclude: The Wolves in the Walls (National Theatre of Scotland); The Full Monty (Prince of Wales Theatre); Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (kids’ MD - London Palladium) and Oliver! (AMD - national tour and Toronto).

Carlton has worked with Daniel Buckroyd many times and has provided scores for numerous productions including: The Long Way Home (national tour); Maisie Mouse and Peter Pan (Polka Theatre); The Mandrake, Pinocchio and The Snow Queen (Oxford Touring Theatre Company); The BFG (Nuffield Theatre) and Hard Times (Bridewell Theatre).

More recently, Carlton composed the music for Daniel’s productions of The Butterfly Lion and Not Now, Bernard at the Mercury Theatre, Colchester. He also composed for The Shakespeare Revue (RSC/Vaudeville/tour) and collaborated with director Patrick Sandford and wrote the music for his productions of Hamlet, Mary Stuart, 101 Dalmatians and Oedipus.
